The meniscus is cartilage that helps to cushion and stabilize the joints of the knee. A tear of the knee’s meniscus is considered the most common knee injury. The diagnosis of the tear will be determined by the way the cartilage looks and by the location of the tear. If you experience pain, a “popping” sensation, stiffness or inability to move the knee or the feeling of your knee giving out a tear may have occurred.
